iPartition Publisher's Description

Whether you’re trying to install the latest version of Mac OS X, or perhaps an older version to test your latest release; or perhaps you want to install Linux to see what all the fuss is about; or maybe you just want a convenient way to manage disk usage on your Mac; whatever, iPartition can help. With its intuitive yet powerful user interface, iPartition makes it easy to create, destroy, resize or format partitions on your hard disks, whether internal, external, fixed or removable.

With iPartition, resizing a partition is as simple as selecting it, grabbing the resize handle and dragging. Not only that, but if you have several operations to perform, iPartition lets you queue them up and run them one after another, so you can have a cup of coffee whilst iPartition works. This feature, coupled with iPartition’s ability to automatically rearrange your existing partitions when asked to expand a partition, makes iPartition the easiest disk partitioning tool that you’ll ever use.

Nor does iPartition’s ease-of-use come at the expense of power users; iPartition’s Partition Map window, coupled with the Inspector, provides total flexibility, even allowing users to edit flags in the partition table, edit the partition type directly, or move or resize partitions accurately anywhere on the disk.

Compatible with Mac OS X 10.3.7 and later, iPartition is a fully fledged Cocoa application, complete with on-line help. It is also a Universal binary so it will run natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs. Please note that iPartition is currently supplied only in downloadable form; if you wish to partition your internal disk, you will need to boot from another disk (e.g., another Mac in target disk mode, a bootable external disk or a bootable CD or DVD). We provide access to a utility that will allow you to create bootable CDs or DVDs.

Additionally, we have tested iPartition to ensure that it does not prevent users from booting Mac OS 9 from a resized or newly formatted volume.
